As an Assistant United States Attorney assigned to the Civil Division of the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Alabama, (1989 to 1991) Barclift handled federal civil cases in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama; additionally, based on his prior experience in handling civil cases, during his tenure as criminal prosecutor in the Middle District of Florida (1991 to 2017), Barclift occasionally assisted that office’s civil division representing the U.S. Postal Service in defense of tort claims as well as the ATF in judicially enforcing their regulatory requirements with respect to regulated firearms manufacturers.

Mr. Barclift initially engaged in private law practice in north Alabama (1982 – 1986) representing both plaintiffs and defendants in civil trials in state and federal courts, as well as representing and advising clients in banking, real estate, bankruptcy, social security, and family law matters. 

Mr. Barclift now draws on his vast experience as a civil and criminal litigator to assist clients in various civil matters.
